4-Week Collage Paper Lab: Make the Paper. Make the Rules.
Ever look at collage art and think, “Okay, but where does THAT paper come from?”
This 4-week, hands-on class is your answer.
You’ll learn how to create your own one-of-a-kind collage papers from scratch using everyday tools, found objects, and DIY mark-making equipment you’ll build yourself (yes—your recycling bin is about to become iconic). Each week focuses on a new approach to texture, pattern, and surface design, giving you a growing library of papers that are uniquely you.
Between classes, you’ll be encouraged to use the papers you’ve made to create collages, reinforcing techniques and helping you see how surface, mark, and composition work together. By the end, you won’t just have stacks of gorgeous papers—you’ll have finished collage work and a repeatable process you can keep using forever.
What you’ll explore:
DIY mark-making tools made from everyday objects
Experimental mark-making using nontraditional tools
Layering, texture, and surface design for collage papers
Turning handmade papers into cohesive collage compositions
Building a personal visual language (no trends, just vibes)
Perfect for:
Artists of all levels, mixed-media lovers, collage curious folks, and anyone who wants to stop buying paper and start making magic.
Warning: After this class, store-bought paper may feel… emotionally unavailable.
